HERITAGE MODIFICATION
New stiffened bolt chairs fabricated and welded around the base of an old powerhouse chimney that's now part of a museum.
On this local council job, we modified the base of an old powerhouse chimney that's now part of a museum.
We fabricated new stiffened bolt chairs in our workshop, then fitted and welded them around the existing anchor bolts on site, working our way around the full base ring before painting the finished steel.
Working on a heritage structure means fitting new steel to something that has been standing for decades. Every chair was measured to what was actually there, not just what was on the drawing, so it lined up with the bolts before welding started.
Scope
Fabrication of stiffened bolt chairs
On-site fit-up and welding around existing anchor bolts
Painting of the completed base ring
